Why does a gray box appear when I try to view a particular picture on my iPhone?

When I view the camera roll on my iPhone I can view a picture of my baby niece among the other pictures I've taken. When I click on the picture to view it, the picture disappears and a gray box appears. Any ideas why the picture won't show up?​
