Why does white iphone have extra space for ear speaker?

i dont have one yet but in all pictures of 4s, i noticed the white model has an extra cutout where the ear speaker is on front of phone??? why is that?

Its not a cut out, but just a clear part of the glass. There is a proximity sensor and light sensor behind that space. You just can't see it on the Black iPhone but its there.

You can't see it on the Black iPhone because it blends in with the black glass.

if you put the black iphone in light you will also see they have it too. thats why good screen protectors will have those pre cut.

Haha, I got a screen protector yesterday (Zagg) and was wondering why there was a cutout at the top. I'm glad I found this thread to answer my question!
