iPhone 4 jb 5.0.1
Trapping network traffic from iPhone to server for a game. Turned off 3G/Cell data access thus forcing all to run through wifi (obviously a necessity to trap the data). Two primary streams that run: 1) to the app store for the in app purchases; 2) to the game server for running the game (server side).
Trapping the new version of the game only catches the stream for the app store. With 3G/Cell data turned off and a block put on my middle-man proxy, a popup appears indicating app store servers are unavailable, however the rest of the game runs fine. Safari, Mercury browser, etc. all fail with "server unavailable" alerts, however the game, dynamic updates in nature, continues chugging along! My only thought is that it must be using the carrier despite my setting everything not to. Yet, when I also disable wifi, the app (an online game) crashes.
Any thoughts?
