wired headset mic curiosity

Hi everyone,

when I use my headphone / mic cable I noticed that the mic on my iphone itself is still working... and therefore, when I put it in my pocket, no one can hear me because the mic which is right next to my mouth doesn't seem to be working, and the mic that is working is now in my pocket...!! I've tried it with a few different headphone / mic sets (because my wife and I each have one) and it's the same thing...
Does anyone else have this situation?

The problem may lie with your iPhone end...the mic jack may be damaged..? water damage maybe..?

It's refurb and seems pretty perfect aside from that.. I'd hate to think it is that! Any other thoughts?

Ok, I have three of these headphone mic combos... Only one works. But it definitely works and its not a prob with the iPhone. Maybe they're just junky?
