WWE games have always been hugely popular no matter what console theyre on, so its no surprise to see THQ and the WWE franchise making more inroads into the iOS market with the release today of WWE Wrestlefest for iPhone and iPad. The game has been faithfully recreated in line with the classic arcade experience, and will feature a mixture of current WWE Superstars and popular WWE Legends, including John Cena, The Rock, Randy Orton, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Undertaker, Jake The Snake Roberts and Macho Man Randy Savage. The 2D arcade-style WWE action will take place across a variety of match types, including Royal Rumble, Tag Team, Gauntlet and Steel Cage, while competing in such renowned arenas as Raw, SmackDown, WrestleMania and Saturday Nights Main Event. The Road to WrestleMania progression-style mode sees players selecting a WWE Superstar or WWE Legend and taking on a series of challenges, with the aim of winning five different WWE Championships. Wireless connectivity through Game Center means that you can also issue multiplayer challenges to your friends.
Fans who download the game can expect it to be updated in the weeks after todays launch with the release of 30 additional WWE Superstars and WWE Legends, as well as new arenas, via an extensive downloadable content program, which will include WWE Superstars CM Punk, Triple H and Sheamus, WWE Legends Shawn Michaels and Big Boss Man, as well as the classic Survivor Series arena.
