Apple’s devices are one of the most desired and frequently stolen devices. Apple has always tried to help users with that, first by releasing the Find my iPhone app and now by introducing the fingerprint sensor technology in the iPhone 5s. But happens if you have to face the thief? How do you protect yourself in that case?

How about an iPhone case that also doubles as a stun gun? Yellow Jacket is a company founded by mister Seth Froom, who also has the misfortune of being robbed of his iPhone. He weighs in:

"Really in that moment when the violent crime does occur, we want to give our users a way to escape that situation. We want to give them a preventative step to where they don't become the victim in the first place."

And the perfect way seems to be a built-in battery-powered stun gun that produces a "painful sting", as the case can shoot 650 kilovolts of electricity through someone's body. Yellow Jacket's stun gun case is not a cheap one, as you’ll have to get $140 out of the pocket for it. The case has been available for the iPhone 4 and 4S and now the company is working on some models compatible with the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.

However, not everybody agrees this is a right method. One of them is James Pasco, executive director of the Steve Young Law Enforcement Legislative Advocacy Center:

"Plenty of offensive weapons in the wrong hands can exacerbate an already serious situation. You don't know what is going to happen with these devices, yet these things are out in people's hands and they say it is a reliable deterrent to crime and theft."

What do you think about this unusual case? Is it a great tool for self-defense or not?
