9to5 Mac reports today that WIRED has added its weight to previous rumours that have said that the iPhone 6 will have a new NFC-technology-powered payment system.
According to WIRED, Apple sources have said that Apple has created its own payment platform, which will make its debut in the forthcoming iPhone 6, and which will be driven by NFC technology.
Of course, an iPhone with NFC capabilities has been a long-standing rumour that has, to date, failed to materialise, but it does now look as though the rumour is about to become reality. And yes, I know we’ve said that before, but this time we mean it!
9to5 Mac notes that it has previously reported that Apple was having talks with major retailers about developing an iOS payment system. Re/code has also reported something similar, and Apple CEO Tim Cook even hinted as much during an earnings call earlier in the year.
