According to University researcher Billy Lau and his team at Georgia Tech's Security Information Center, your iPhone could be susceptible to hacking while it is charging. Lau and his team created a malicious app and made it look like Facebook and hid the malware code to get an initial security certificate.
Apple gave the team the approval for testing and the app was downloaded to an iPhone. Nothing will happen to your iPhone as long as you don't unlock your password protected phone while it is charging. If not, you could be infected with malware or even have your financial account details stolen. Lau said the following:
The possibilities are really endless. It can steal your banking credentials
The best way to prevent this from happening is not unlocking your iPhone while its charging at a public charging station.
