AppleInsider reports today on a new survey from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), which takes an in-depth look at the purchasing habits of 365 customers that bought iPhones in October, November and December 2011. According to the survey, 21% of of iPhone 4S customers chose the top-of-the-range 64GB version, which is the highest capacity smartphone ever released onto the market by Apple. CIRP also found that 18% of respondents who bought the iPhone 4S at launch in October were making the switch from another OS, such as Android, Palm, or BlackBerry. However, just a couple of months later, by the end of 2011, this figure had doubled to 36% of respondents switching over from another platform. CIRP also found that AT&T, Verizon and Sprint all kept a consistent share of the smartphone market with iPhone customers, as well as revealing that for these three carriers, having the iPhone is a big plus when compared to their rival carriers that dont have the iPhone, in particular T-Mobile, as it helped them to attract more customers away from those rivals.
