Apple fans are famously loyal, and now Goldman Sachs analyst Bill Shope has written about that loyalty, saying that the value of such loyalty to Apple for the companys coffers can be estimated at around $295 billion. In a note to investors, AppleInsider reports, Shope said that the average individual iOS customer is worth $1,053 to Apple, assuming the average selling price of an iOS device for the June quarter to be $535 with 5% erosion, a gross margin of 45%, and annual defections of 5%. These figures from Shope follow on from a recent survey from Shopes firm, Goldman Sachs, which polled 1,000 people in an attempt to find out what sort of costs are involved when someone switches platforms. According to the figures of the survey, 21% of respondents said that no discount, however much, would cause them to leave Apple. And of those that said that they would be prepared to consider switching, more than half said that it would take a discount of 30% or more to persuade them to switch.
