a few dissapointing things

a few dissapointing things

I'm seriously annoyed that the option in settings/general/accessibility for White on Black makes EVERYTHING negative...photos, icons, apps...everything. Seriously? I like having the white on black text/background, it's much easier on my eyes, but it's just stupid to make it change everything.

And of course, the thing that feels like a giant "F-you" from Apple (in the you get it like WE want it, not like YOU want it way) is that I can't have the home screen have the icons/widgets etc. that I want. Why do I have to have the icons on the main screen that THEY want me to have? How exactly does it hurt them to let me customize that? I want a clock on the main screen that I can actually read at a glance, as well as my most used apps and links. I can't even delete the ones I will never use, I just have to leave them there for eternity.

Apple has apparently decided it's easier to just give us what they want us to have than to give us what we want when it comes to the simple things like the ability to customize. Not that I don't enjoy my iphone, it's pretty amazing and I'm having a lot of fun with it, I just wish the UI was a little more friendly.

If there are any fixes for these things, I'd love to know.

Jailbreak.

Ah yes Jenny, I forget that I'm just supposed to lay down and praise the Apple Gods that they blessed me with such a piece of technological perfection lest I be struck down for pointing out anything NOT perfect about it.

My husband is proof that I am able to love something, enjoy the good things about it and want to have it in my life even though it has flaws and imperfections or things I wish worked better

Not at all, this phone isn't perfect for everyone. Every other day my best friend tries to tell me how the EVO is better. But while it is definitely a great phone with great options, the number of pros on the iphone were higher for my personal usage of a handset. In using the phrase "Apple Gods"...haha...it seems that you are more than spiteful regarding the phone and its lack of capabilities that you need. Are you sure that by getting the iphone you have settled for the least of smartphone evils?

*I hope that I am not coming off as a smartass or anything. I just wonder how with so many options currently out, that a person can own a device that the are not happy with.

you can have white on black or black on white change it in the options..

Um, right. I did that. I like the white on black option for the iphone menus and backgrounds but I DON"T like that it turns the WHOLE PHONE "white on black". When I take a picture with the camera, it looks negative (colors all reversed) on the screen though it saves in the correct colors, the apps look reversed, everything. Seriously, just make it for the text/menus not the whole phone.

Jailbreak.

I shouldn't have to jailbreak a phone to get basic user interface conveniences.

I have to have AT&T due to our home location (I'm not a big fan of having to talk on the phone out on the porch in the rain) so it's not so much the least of smartphone evils, but the ONLY network evil available to me. Also, my DH has an iphone and it just makes sense for us to have the same phone. He bought mine for my birthday. I thought about the HTC Aria but I played with one at the store and it just didn't seem right.

If we were with Verizon, I'd get a Droid and wouldn't think twice about the iphone. But, with AT&T the iphone is definitely the best option smartphone wise. The Apple Gods comment isn't so much about the iphone but the attitude that Apple seems to have about it's products and customers. I am obviously not the only one who thinks this, even among iphone owners.

i agree with traquy, it just bad news that apple dont let us have the freedom that say nokia do. i use bluetooth alot on my macbook to send and recieve pics, tunes, e.t.c. but iphone 4 will only allow a internet connection, thats really sad and not a good move for apple.
i know wot u mean wen u say about customizing ur phone. im very surprised at apple cos i can do just about anything with my amazing macbook (latest version) its the best bit of kit i ever owned. but as for the ALL NEW iphone4
big thumbs down from me. but im gonna keep it anyway as im now in a contract :-(

thats exactly why i got rid of my iphone and got the nokia 97 for those reasons, but after the iphone 4 i went back to apple. nokia allow bluetooth send/receive and the camer is crap quality and they allow you to customise your phone more allow you to select any mp3 and select use as ringtone or sms which btw apple dont even let you change the sms tone so many reasons why i switched and after that moving to nokia those reasons because not valid to me.

you cant keep the background light on constantly and the languages in the settings depend on where you are, firmware updates come later depending on what network and country your in. those things annoyed me more plus the crap quality of the nokias camera and your not able to keep the flash on.. in the end these small things that apple wont allow are nothing compared to nokias faults depending on what you use i guess.. bluetooth is really stupid they disable it and claim its for copy laws why does no other company care? because they dont lose tones of money from itunes or their stores when people send the mp3s or other files. i have bluetooth on my macbook pro and no device that accepts sends lol. maybe a keyboard or mouse ill add one day

but apple do listen they add features late but when they do they do a good job. i doubt ill be leaving iphone again. maybe htc to try but never nowkeeya as the americans pronounce it :D

Wow, you seem to be having a bad day. Cheer up! It's just a phone, and I'm just a person you don't know..life is too short :)

The iPhone blue tooth works fine with speakers, car systems headphones and keyboards with some exceptions it is not designed to blue tooth transfer of music nor to another phone.
The blackberry phones also work the same as the iPhone so Apple is not alone.

You can transfer every thing direct via USB and iTunes and further more it backs up the phone.

Um, you can move around the apps as much as you want. Press and hold down on the apps and they'll start to "jiggle" then just drag and drop to wherever you want.
