This is for future reference, I JB my new iphone 4s 5.1.1 (sprint) using Absinthe for Linux, I don't have itunes but i did a backup using icloud. How do i get the phone back to stock? I don't care about any existing apps and itune does not run on my computer. My wife has a windows7 computer and I could use that if need be but I have no backup stored on her comp.

I just want to know how I get it back to stock if I have an issue with it.

Restore with iTunes will return your iPhone to stock...

I would not recommend restoring an iCloud Backup. I had major problems when i restored one

how do i restore with itunes when i dont have a backup stored on my wifes computer? only in icloud.

Create your own iTunes account on your wifes computer... Backup data to your account....Restore as and when required via USB cable...

FYI - My data is backed up via iCloud....works perfectly well for me...

Create a new user on the computer

Having your backup on iCloud is exactly what you want in your scenario. You are probably confusing the "restore" of IOS with a restore from backup. They are two different and separate things.

So, it's trivial to connect any device to any PC with iTunes installed and restore a clean fresh copy of IOS. That's the first thing you want to do.

When that process is finished, you then initialise and configure your device using the setup wizard on the phone. At that stage you can specify that you want to restore your iCloud backup and the magic happens. Your settings, apps, etc. will be restored from the cloud. The fact you used a PC to restore IOS using iTunes is irrelevant at this stage.

Also, just to add my 2p worth, I've restored my iCloud backups multiple times for multiple devices and never run into any serious problems. Just remember to check or take a new iCloud backup before you start any restore process! :D

Hope that clarifies.
