BGR writes today that they have been looking into the availability of the iPhone 5 worldwide, and have found that most Apple stores are out of stock. They have also checked with various carriers in the US, and have ascertained that not one carrier has received fresh stock of the phone. They say that for anyone wanting to get their hands on an iPhone 5 right now in the US, you’re still more likely to be lucky at an Apple Store than anywhere else, but with the caveat that most of the phones still available in the stores (assuming you can find any) are tied into Sprint. And if you don’t want a Sprint phone, or are tied into another carrier? Well, BGR notes that the wait to buy an iPhone 5 from Apple’s online store is still from three to four weeks at the moment, so we’re looking at early November possibly if you order now.
