All ring tones gone

Hi all, i recently did the itunes and iphone software update and my custom ringtones are all gone. Only the standard tones are in the phone, nothing else has been removed, not music, apps, images, just my few ringtones and i cant put them back. Itunes synchs but not the tunes. I can see the tunes in the tones file but they sit the greyed out and not able to be transferred, anyone had or having this problem?
What's going on with this thing?

Now iTunes is not recognizing my iPhone!!!
Asking me to do a factory reset???!!!
I am not doing that!

What is wrong with this stupid software.
I'm so going to go to the apple store to tell them what a shite product they have!!!

I have faced the same problem. However for me this method worked. First Uncheck to sync ringtones in iTunes. Sync your phone. Rechecked sync ringtones. Sync the phone again and all ringtones should reappear on phone. Otherwise take help fro your nearest Apple care center.
