was really looking forwad to this case, but according to the dimensions it will be approximately 1/4" bigger in all dimensions than the defender. Curious if anybody is considering this case? Was really looking forward to it, but i think it will just be ginormous!!

Bought it for my brother. I kid you not, he went to visit his mother-in-law, who's in one of those power chairs. He dropped the phone and boy did she have a bumpy ride. She ran it over on her way down the handicap incline, and nothing happened to it. The power chair is pretty heavy and she's not too light herself so that's something. I use the Mophie Juice Pack Pro Outdoor Edition myself sometimes, so to compare the two, I would say the Otterbox is a great deal if you're looking for extra heavy duty. The Mophie Outdoor can't sustain weight more than an average person, and isn't submerge-able in water, but the Otterbox can be taken on a short swim of about 6 feet or so. If you have kids like my brother, you'd probably want the Armor if your kids are playing with your iPhone 
He's a Marine, so they have the benefit of always getting the best of the best when it comes to their devices since it's for "work". There was a notice sent out and we decided to grab him one before his next deploy in 2 weeks. They were provided with the Mophie Outdoors prior to its official release as well when he had the 4, now that the 5 is out, I guess the Armor suits him much better.

Thanks for the response, good to know someone has actually gotten their hands on one to try out. Do u know if he likes the case? Using the lifeproof now and curious if the armor will be a much better case, other than being about 3x the size

i know i am considering it once its available.
Well he has his own little fanny pack to keep it in while they get him a custom holster for it. Like you said, it's the size of a brick, and AFAIK, there aren't any pair of pants with a pocket that big lol. But yeah, he likes it a lot, knowing that his phone is safe while he's out there and never has to worry about it unless it gets run over by something. He say he prefers it over his Defender and Mophie Outdoors despite the size difference
