There was quite a lot of talk when the new Verizon iPhone 4 was unveiled about the slight cosmetic differences between the forthcoming Verizon phone and the older AT&T version, in particular the positioning of the mute button. MacRumors reports today that Apple has now unveiled new bumpers with wider holes for the mute switch that can accommodate the layout on both the new Verizon iPhone and the earlier model. The information comes courtesy of a YouTube video which displays the new bumper and compares it with the previous bumpers. The bumper is already on sale in Apple retail stores, and MacRumors says that the online store has also been restocked with the new bumpers, which have B model numbers as opposed to the previous A model versions. The bumper pictures have yet to be updated to the new ones, however.
And while were on the subject of the upcoming Verizon iPhone launch, MacRumors also refers to a Boy Genius Report story that says that Apple is expecting huge turnouts at its retail stores when the Verizon iPhone goes on sale, so has banned employees from taking vacations between February 5th and 18th, and will also be extending store opening hours during this period.
