Here's a followup to Maura's story from yesterday (with an analysis )...
According to several combined leaks coming out of China, we may now have several details regarding the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6S Plus. Here's a breakdown of the rumored features:
- Rose Gold Color option
- Apple is sticking with the 4.7-inch size for the iPhone 6s and 5.5-inch for the iPhone 6s Plus
- Faster A9 chip inside
- 2GB of LPDDR4 memory
- 12-megapixel main camera
- Support for Force Touch gestures, (like the Apple Watch and new MacBook)
- Enhanced Touch ID fingerprint sensor to speed up Apple Pay
- Improved build quality to avoid any #bendgate fiascos
- Sapphire Glass for some versions of the iPhone 6S Plus
The 2GB of LPDDR4 would be a nice jump as would the 12MP camera rumor. The camera would be a big deal because it would be the first time Apple finally moves beyond their tried and true 8MP design. The Force Touch gestures would be a welcome and interesting new feature, and it makes sense that Apple would try to adopt their new innovation with their latest iPhone.
As far as the improved Touch ID to speed up Apple Pay, that would also be a smart move from Apple. Making things even more convenient for Apple Pay users will only increase its adoption rate. Improving the internal structure of the device is something Apple already did with the iPhone 6 Plus so that's really a no brainer.
Finally, we can't imagine that Apple would only sell specific iPhone 6 Plus models with Sapphire glass and not give it to all of them... unless they develop some higher end version with a different marketing dynamic. This seems highly unlikely. What do you guys think of these latest rumors?
