According to a new report on Bloomberg, via MacRumors, Apple is currently working on iPhones with “touchless gesture control” and curved displays. Bloomberg’s source says that this is so that the iPhone is distinguishable in a crowded smartphone market.
The source told Bloomberg that the touchless gesture technology utilises a hover-style gesture feature set whereby iPhone users can navigate around their iPhone “by moving their finger close to the screen without actually tapping it.”
The sophisticated technology is said to be approximately two years off being ready.
As far as future displays are concerned, Bloomberg’s source said that the design that Apple is currently working on has a display that curves inwards “gradually from top to bottom.” Bloomberg says that this technology will not be ready for another 2 to 3 years.
The source also reinforces many other recent iPhone rumours, including a lower-cost LCD iPhone and iPhone X Plus coming this year.
