Business Insider reports on a note issued by Avian Securities today which says that Apple does not intend to start production of the iPhone 5 until this September, meaning that it will not be going on sale until at the earliest the end of the year, or possibly even the beginning of next year. Avian says that its information comes from a key component supplier to Apple. Avian also says in the same note that it has heard from its sources that Apple is also working on a lower-spec/lower-priced iPhone, as has often been rumoured in recent months. Whether or not this will be the iPhone 5, or one of several different iPhone 5 models, Avian says that its sources do not yet know, nor do they have any information about the specs of said cheaper iPhone, or any information as to why Apple has chosen to deviate from its usual summer iPhone release schedule of the past few years was given by Avian.
