9to5Mac's Mark Gurman was able to provide us with some of the highlights from the conference. In regards to the iPhone, Cook stated that the smartphone sold enough units to "cover the populations of New York, London, Beijing, and Shanghai." The CEO confidently called the iPhone the "greatest business of the future", noting that India will play a big role the smartphone's sales.
While iPad sales have been dropping, Cook was confident that iPad revenue growth should return by the end of 2016. Last holiday-quarter we saw that iPad sales dropped by 25%, even though the company released the long-awaited iPad Pro. We'll have to see what Apple has in store for the iPad Air 3.
Moving on. Apple's CEO stated that the Apple TV will hold a "bright future for Apple in the living room." Reviews for the new Apple TV have been mostly positive, but until Apple can make some headway with its rumored TV subscription service, it's just another set-top box.
Other points made in Apple's Town Hall meeting:
- Apple Watch sold more holiday 2015 than iPhone holiday in 2007
- Apple may expand its services to non-iOS platforms, like Apple Musico n Android
- Apple employees will begin moving into Campus 2 January 2017
- China should play an integral role in Apple's future success
