AppleInsider reports today that according to Gartners latest market share report that looks at both the fourth quarter of 2011 and 2011 as a whole, not only was Apple the largest smartphone seller worldwide in 2011, with 19% of all sales, it also managed to sail past LG to become the number 3 biggest mobile phone vendor worldwide (thats all mobile phones, not just smartphones). In fact, according to Gartners figures, Apple represented 23.8 percent of all smartphones sold worldwide in just the fourth quarter of 2011. AppleInsider reports that Apples overtaking LG to become 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] biggest mobile phone vendor in the world is particularly impressive given that Apple only makes smartphones, and does not make any cheaper or more basic mobile phones with fewer features. Apple now only has Nokia in first place and Samsung in second place ahead of it in this particular global market. [/FONT]
