Apple Will Reject Apple Watch Apps that Just Tell the Time

Apple has updated its App Store Review Guidelines, adding a new guideline, saying that Watch apps that only tell time will be rejected. The new guidelines regarding the Apple Watch say the following:

• Watch Apps whose primary function is telling time will be rejected
  
• Apps that look similar to Apps bundled on iOS or Watch OS devices, including the App Store, iTunes Store, and iBooks Store, will be rejected

At the moment, the Apple Watch does not allow third-parties to create custom watch faces so users are basically limited to the choice of ten faces that come pre-installed. Apple says the following on its website:

"Choose a face and customize it however you like. Add more functionality. Switch colors and see even more detail, such as minutes, seconds, and milliseconds."
