The Siri-a-like Evi app was the centre of a lot of news reports yesterday, with TechCrunch, for example, reporting that Apple had threatened to pull it from the App Store. The Verge has pulled all the various threads of the unfolding story together, and reports that Evis developers, True Knowledge, are now working with Apple in order to resolve their issues over the apps similarity to Siri, and for now the app is still in the App Store. [FONT=&]Its possible that one of the reasons that Apple is taking such a long hard look at Evi is because it doesnt want anything to threaten Siris appeal as a major selling point for the iPhone 4S. If people can have an app like Evi that works just as well as Siri on their iPhone 4, then they might have less incentive to splash out for an iPhone 4S. Apple still holds all the cards as far as the App Store is concerned, having the power to remove Evi if it wants, but it has no control over the Android Marketplace of course, where Evi is also available for Android phone owners to download for free.
