For some reason I am drawing a complete blank I am trying to uninstall some apps but can't seem to do it. Can anyone tell me how? I used to just hold on them and them hit the (X) but I don't get that anymore
Thanks
Mary

What apps are you trying to delete? The reason I ask is, you are doing the correct procedure but Apple protects apps that come with iOS. If you are trying to delete one of those apps, you can't.

No it's games that I installed but no longer play but the x doesn't come up for me to remove anything

Lets try a different approach then.

Launch Settings -> General -> Usage

Wait for it to fill in the top 10 apps.

Select Show All Apps.

Scroll to the app that is giving you the issue.

Click on that app.

Click on Delete app.

Hopefully that will work.

When I do that I don't see anything that says delete app I attached a screenshot of what it shows when trying that

WOAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I am usually not rendered speechless, but right now I am.

*thinks*

Lets try something new. It is called a "Hard Reset". Basically you are going to reboot the phone in a way that doesn't load any old leftover data.

Hold the Sleep Button and Home button both at the same time until only a white Apple logo appears. Once it does let the buttons go. The phone will reboot and then retry deleting the app by going thru the Settings again.

Thank you for your help before I read your post I turn my phone of and back on and now it worked it was saying I didn't have enough space to install the update
