BGR writes that AT&T has today announced record-breaking sales figures for the holiday period of more than 10 million smartphones in the fourth quarter of 2012, which narrowly beats the 9.4 million smartphones sold in the same period a year ago. AT&T says that it also had the best quarterly Apple and Android phone sales ever.
“We had another incredible quarter of smartphone sales as the mobile Internet continues to drive strong growth in wireless,” Ralph de la Vega, president and chief executive officer for AT&T Mobility, told BGR. “These are the industry’s most valuable postpaid subscribers with average revenues twice that of non-smartphone subscribers.”
De la Vega said that AT&T sold approximately 110,000 smartphones per day, referring to the company’s “leading portfolio of the latest Android, Apple and Windows devices.” Looks like AT&T will have some very interesting figures for market watchers to pore over when it releases its full fourth-quarter results on January 24.
