Backup

I want to backup all my data in my iphone,but when i connect it to itunes its says you cannot use your iphone until you restore it,and i dont want to restore because all my data will be lost! Any help?!

Do you see your Springboard on your phone or your lock screen on your phone? Or is there a "Connect to iTunes" screen on your phone
