9to5 Mac reports today that although battery life wasnt mentioned in the notes for yesterdays iOS 4.3.1 update, they have been hearing from their readers that the update does appear to have had a beneficial effect on the battery life of their devices, with one reader telling them that he had noticed a significant improvement in the longevity of the battery life of his iPad 2. On Twitter, comments on the issue included the following:
Pleased that iOS 4.3.1 appears to have cleared the battery draining issue. Only gone down 15% in the last 6 hours.
and
iOS 4.3.1 is out today, it seems to have fixed the battery issue on my iPhone 4.
9to5 Mac notes that the battery drain problem caused by iOS 4.3 and corrected by iOS 4.3.1 was purely software related, and possibly caused by activation of unnecessary background processes. As ever, Apple is not helping anyone out with any clues!
