With the government spying on almost everything we send wirelessly on our devices, folks all over the world are becoming more and more hesitant on what they send over-the-air. Apple has stated that it doesn't share any data sent by iMessage, and while there are other services out there which go by the same morals, more options are always better.
Popular peer-to-peer sharing company BitTorrent released a brand new app on Wednesday. BitTorrent Shoot is a cross-platform direct sharing app, which allows users to send large quantities of photos and videos to other devices seamlessly.
Shoot utilizes encryption, bypasses the cloud and is built on the BitTorrent Sync engine. The app only sends files to device in close proximity and works with people directly, giving a full private experience.
There are other services like Shoot out there however. Apple's AirDrop is a similar technology, although the feature only works well with small amounts of photos and videos, and doesn't work cross-platform.
Shoot makes file sharing easier by generating a QR code for the sender so others to scan. The sender can then offer the code to folks nearby to scan using an iOS, Android or Windows Phone device.
BitTorrent Shoot is free in the App Store and comes with a free demo for the first few sends. After the free trial is up, users can choose to purchase unlimited sends for a $1.99 in-app-purchase.
