TUAW gives the heads-up today to a new app from developers Two Think, called Boogieman Radar, which is not the latest zombie-chasing game, despite the name, but is in fact a fun way for parents to convince their children that theres no boogieman or monster in the closet or under the bed, or lurking in the corner. TUAW reports that Boogieman Radar is a virtual reality app with an overlay radar that can be used to scan a room to help reassure a child that the boogieman is not lurking in their room. The app lets you choose a girl or boy guide, who will then help parents and their child to scan the room. Your iPhone camera will relay a picture of the room onto the phones screen, with the radar on top of it, blipping and bleeping. After scanning for around 10 seconds, the guide will proclaim the room safe. Hopefully this will then reassure the child and give both them and the parents a restful nights sleep!
The apps developers are at pains to point out that the app is not designed to take the place of the parent in reassuring the child, but for them to use as a additional aid, something a little different. They also say that they have thoroughly tested the app with their own children, and they also ask for the help of parents to make the app even better with their feedback via their website (see link below).
