General Motors has released a press release in which it informs that its Cadillac division will add support for Apple CarPlay to most of its 2016 vehicles. GM informs that Apple CarPlay will debut in 2016 Cadillac models featuring CUE’s 8-in multi-touch screen except the SRX Crossover.
David Leone, Executive Chief Engineer at GM, said the following:
"Cadillac’s product transformation includes continuing upgrades to connectivity and in-car technology. In 2015 Cadillac became the first luxury brand to feature broad use of wireless charging and 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity, and now in 2016 we’re moving quickly to enhance phone integration and overall system performance.”
During its WWDC 2015 keyynote, Apple announced several ehancements to CarPlay such as wireless connections, support for new screen sizes, and automaker-made apps capable of controlling in-car functions such as heating and air conditioning.
