Call audio routing

I would like to use automatic call audio routing but cannot get it to work. By that I mean that the call is in normal mode when the phone is to my ear but in speaker mode otherwise. On my iPhone 5s (iOs 8.1). I set it by going to Settings>>General>>Accessibility>>Call Audio Routing.
