Connecting purchased ring tones

I can't get to first base with this. I'm a new IPHONE user and have a 6Plus. Purchased a ring tone from ITunes and found in in Music/playlists. How do I find it when in Settings/Sounds/Ringtones and make it my ringtone. I can't get a simple answer in the user manual or a book I purchased. It used to be very simple with my Drois

Unfortunately, the only way to get ringtones onto the iPhone so you can use it is via iTunes. You must sync the iPhone to iTunes.

It is more inconvenient, but it's the only way to get ringtones on the phone. Sorry.
