Dead battery or U2 IC chip

Hi all,

My iphone 5 (ios7) ran out of battery as I was sleeping last night and when I went to put it on to charge this morning, nothing appeared on the screen. I have tried using different chargers as well as attempting to put the phone in DFU and recovery modes with no luck. I been researching today how I could fix this and am unsure if I need to replace the battery or if it has a faulty U2 IC chip, I have had the phone for 3 years now so could this be why the battery is suddenly dead? Also I have normally used high quality chargers.

3 yr old battery? Probably needs to be replaced. Do you live near an Apple Store to get a diagnostic check?
