For reasons unknown, Apple is still signing iOS 4.1 for iPhone 3GS. I want to downgrade to improve the overall speed and performance of the phone. And yes, I am aware that there aren't many apps available for it anymore, so please don't lecture me.

If I attempt to downgrade without putting the phone into pwned DFU mode, iTunes shows error 20 and doesn't restore to 4.1. If I DO use Pwned DFU Mode, iTunes shows error 1015 and my iPhone goes into recovery mode.

I downloaded RecBoot, but it just is not working. I select "Exit recovery mode" but it still doesn't work. The iTunes logo remains on the screen and nothing happens.

I honestly just don't know what to do. Please respond as quickly as possible.

Thank you.

Use RedSn0w's restore feature. It's much easier than using TU and such.

I tried earlier but the "Next" button was greyed out, presumably because I hadn't selected any SHSH blobs which aren't even required for this downgrade.

Select Remote for blobs. They'll be retrieved from Apple.

Thank you! I had to try a few times, but I'm now on 4.1 and jailbroken. My phone is so much faster on 4.1 than it was on 6.1.3
