Downloaded apps from Cydia open the immediately close but are Ios5 compatbile

Hey,
I am a Blackberry user new to the iphone world. I just jailbroke my phone a few days ago at the WORST time to update as I just recently found out. Now I have a "pretty looking expensive ipod". Anyways, I am preparing my iphone for when the unlock does come out and I am downloading all these apps via cydia only to find out some that say are Ios5 compatible are opening and closing right away. Is there a way to specify which ones will and will not work or do I need more sources? I am a total junior noob and need major help!
