Email deletion

I am new with IPhone, this is my first IPhone, but have a question. While I am reading an email, I decide to delete it, well it opens the next email. I want to avoid that and just go back to the mail list. Is that possible and how?

That's the way it is set up. If you back out of that email then delete it will stay in the inbox and not go into the next email. As far as I know there is no way to change it.

Duh, why didn't I think of that. Thanks so much for the hint, guess I am a little overwhelmed coming to the iphone for the first time. I am loving it though, great phone.
