AppleInsider reports today on a story from Bloomberg that says that Facebook has, according to sources, hired several former Apple engineers and put them to work on a redesign of its iPhone app. According to sources in the know, this is set to be a very major overhaul indeed rather than just a minor update to the existing app. In particular, the story says that four former iOS experts are now working at Facebook, with the specific brief of improving the Facebook iOS apps speed and performance. Among the former Apple employees now said to be on the Facebook payroll are Apple designers Mike Matas and Kimon Tsinteris, who, AppleInsider notes, are believed to have had a big hand in the design of the iOS platform, and in particular, how it looks and feels, with Matas apparently being the man we have to thank for coming up with the idea of the charging battery icon.
