I have an iphone 3gs 4.2.1 that I plan on unlocking. Ive done this a few times to know that its not smart to restore the phone from the phone.

I thought to restore the phone and remove cydia was by plugging the phone into the computer (DFU mode) and then clicking shift + restore (to browse to my 4.2.1 software and not update). It tells me error 3194 and cant seem to figure out why its doing that.

Sure its gotta be a quick solution, thanks in advance

You need your 4.2.1 SHSH in order to restore that firmware, otherwise you need to update to 5.0.1 but if you do make sure to use sn0wbreeze to maintain your baseband.

can you point me with a link on how to do either of those? Like I said I want to be able to unlock this phone, which I know can be done on 4.2.1 quite easily. If I would of just erased the phone first I wouldnt be here, but I jailbroke first.
