It's good to hear all positive comments for the Verizon iPhone so far!
update: I realized that the bars only drop when I grab and surround the whole bottom of the phone with my hand. When holding it naturally like when making a call, the bars remain at 3 or 4. So in normal use, it should not be a problem. *Whew*

Yup, there are places on pretty much every phone that will affect reception. I can hold my Droid Incredible a certain way and also lose strength. Pretty much any phone can and will have this affliction.
The reception of this phone so far has been exceptional.
I can 100% verify that the death grip DOES exist on my phone. I get 3 bars in my house, and when I grip it at the bottom, within 10-15 seconds it drops to 1 bar. As soon as I release from that spot, within 3-5 seconds it goes back up to 3 bars. I figured it was a fluke, but I am able to duplicate this over and over.
Granted, it does not go to "no service" (thank god), and I have not tested it yet while on a call, but the antenna is definitely affected by the placement of my hand.

Then no they didnt fix it they just moved. Fwiw my ATT version doesnt go to no service either but the bars def do drop. Not an issue tho since I don't use it without the case nor do I use it left handed or choke the life out of it heheh.

It seems to me that this is a widespread issue regardless of carrier, but in retrospect there may be a bit too much focus on it. Should it be happening? Absolutely not, considering the amount of money spent on the phone. But in practical use, with no dropped calls (yet) I'm beginning to get over it.
I haven't tried the Verizon iPhone, but with the AT&T iPhone 4 simply holding the phone with my left hand like I have always held my phones caused the signal to drop from 3-4 bars to 0-1 bars, that isn't acceptable.I found if I wrap my phone in aluminum foil and then put it in a lead box I lose the signal.
Let's be honest here if you have to find different ways to grip the phone left hand right hand bottom, top. There really is not a problem were just looking for one. I had a Blackberry Storm II and when I talked on that phone it was like being on the AT&T network calls were dropped all the time. I have had the iPhone for 2 full days now and the call quality and reception has been GREAT ! Lets move on !!

I tried to mimic the grip to get the phone to drop bars last night and absolutely could not get it to drop. I honestly can't figure out how these people are doing it. Needless to say, if you have to go through extra effort on the Verizon iPhone to get it to drop bars, well, then you're trying too hard.
