First day Impressions with the V.iphone4

First day Impressions with the V.iphone4

It's good to hear all positive comments for the Verizon iPhone so far!

update: I realized that the bars only drop when I grab and surround the whole bottom of the phone with my hand. When holding it naturally like when making a call, the bars remain at 3 or 4. So in normal use, it should not be a problem. *Whew*

Yup, there are places on pretty much every phone that will affect reception. I can hold my Droid Incredible a certain way and also lose strength. Pretty much any phone can and will have this affliction.

The reception of this phone so far has been exceptional.

Yes it is really nice to receive these type of comments.

If you recall, when the iPhone 4 was first released on AT&T everyone had reception problems. Thankfully, those issues have been corrected. While VZW has a terrific network there are spots that their signal is weak or blocked due to the surroundings.

I get full signal in my apartment.. If i hold it insanely hard, as in squeezing with both hands so almost every side is covered, I lost one bar. So it may potentially be a very minimal problem in a zone with little signal, but so far so good.

I get 3 bars while at home, my house is located in a poor reception area even when moving from room to room , where it may only show 1 bar I did not lose my calls. With my Droid eris the calls would have failed, I saw today that the Inquirer posted a video showing the Verizon iphone4 stills has antenna issues.

The majority of iphone owners will use some type of case to protect their investment which at the same time eliminates the probability for most failed calls. Can't wait to read all the negatives about Verizons iphone 4 problems and the rush to get a failed phone. IMOP, after a full day and then some I'am keeping my iphone and would buy it again in a heartbeat.

I can 100% verify that the death grip DOES exist on my phone. I get 3 bars in my house, and when I grip it at the bottom, within 10-15 seconds it drops to 1 bar. As soon as I release from that spot, within 3-5 seconds it goes back up to 3 bars. I figured it was a fluke, but I am able to duplicate this over and over.
Granted, it does not go to "no service" (thank god), and I have not tested it yet while on a call, but the antenna is definitely affected by the placement of my hand.

Then no they didnt fix it they just moved. Fwiw my ATT version doesnt go to no service either but the bars def do drop. Not an issue tho since I don't use it without the case nor do I use it left handed or choke the life out of it heheh.

It seems to me that this is a widespread issue regardless of carrier, but in retrospect there may be a bit too much focus on it. Should it be happening? Absolutely not, considering the amount of money spent on the phone. But in practical use, with no dropped calls (yet) I'm beginning to get over it.

I have been over it since the first day but I had every BB and Droid fanboy tease me about it as if their phones are perfect. If as much hype went into any of the Droid phones I am sure there would be headline news articles about them too. But no one cares when a new Droid comes out lol. There is a new one every other day *yawn

I found if I wrap my phone in aluminum foil and then put it in a lead box I lose the signal.

Let's be honest here if you have to find different ways to grip the phone left hand right hand bottom, top. There really is not a problem were just looking for one. I had a Blackberry Storm II and when I talked on that phone it was like being on the AT&T network calls were dropped all the time. I have had the iPhone for 2 full days now and the call quality and reception has been GREAT ! Lets move on !!

I haven't tried the Verizon iPhone, but with the AT&T iPhone 4 simply holding the phone with my left hand like I have always held my phones caused the signal to drop from 3-4 bars to 0-1 bars, that isn't acceptable.

I tried to mimic the grip to get the phone to drop bars last night and absolutely could not get it to drop. I honestly can't figure out how these people are doing it. Needless to say, if you have to go through extra effort on the Verizon iPhone to get it to drop bars, well, then you're trying too hard. :D

It's not extra effort for me. Its consistently dropping from 3 to 1 bars holding it normally for a call. I bought the apple bumper today and its perfect.

Put a bumper on mine today and it stays at 3 bars inside the house where my droid eris would only show 1 bar, and I'm located in a poor reception area, good to go!!
