How can I sync my google calendar when I sync my iphone phone through Itunes. It will not let me click on it to sync. It's always grayed out.

I sync my calendar and contacts using a free google exchange server. It works really well. I set it up with procedures I found using a google search. If you can't find it, let me know and I will try to find them for you.
