I'm not sure how recently this occured, but there was a time when there was not a problem.

1. if I setup my connection to GOOGLE CALENDAR as a GOOGLE ACCOUNT, it accurately synchronizes the events, but will not let me edit them on the iPhone - the EDIT BUTTON isn't there. I can still create them.

2. if I setup my connection to google calendar as an EXCHANGE ACCOUNT, it lets me edit the appointments, and gives me access to more data, but decides that the time zone for every appointment is "Cupertino," even though my iPhone's settings are for Phoenix, the appointments in Google are in Phoenix time, etc. So, if I change anything, I end up with weird time zone problems.

Attempted so far: deleted and recreated each type of calendar.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Had the same problem and switched to the exchange so I could edit my calendar.

For the time zone thing check settings-> mail, contacts, and calendars -> scroll down to calendars and check the time zone support to see what it's set at. You could also turn the time zone support off if you don't need it.
