AppleInsider reports that Google is rumoured to be working on an Android Wear app for iOS, enabling iPhone and iPad users to have support for their Moto 360 and LG G Watch.
The news comes via French publication 01net, which said that Google could announce iOS support for Android Wear at its I/O developer conference this May. Google might also consider releasing the app even sooner if Apple Watch sales prove to be particularly high and thus become a threat to Android Wear sales.
If Google did extend support for Android Wear to other devices, this would be one area at least where it had more reach than Apple, with the Apple Watch only compatible with iOS devices.
And, of course, there’s the ever present factor of cost, with Android Wear gear being much cheaper than the Apple Watch, starting at a basic $199 and peaking at $300. In contrast, the cheapest Apple watch prices start at $349. However, as Apple device owners are well aware, you do tend to get what you pay for!
