iPhone doesn't have a soft reset. Only a hard reset and a factory reset.

Agreed. You have your basic off/on option, and your hard reset option.

Then the factory restore, recovery mode restore, and the DFU mode restore.

There is "hard reset" and "factory restore" well mentioned in the Users Guide. Read it again
