I am new here and need some help. My brother on his last trip from German bought a 4s unlocked to take back with him. He gave my 7 year old his German iphone 3GS (ios 5.0.1) that she uses like a ipod touch. The other day when 5.1 came out I thought my iphone was plugged so I hit install. I soon realized it was her 3gs and after it rebooted it wanted a sim card installed. I put my card in and it says it is the wrong carrier. I took it to the apple store and they said it should work but it is not. I tried restoring and still nothing. Does anyone know a way to get past the phone registration part since we don't want to use it as a phone? She has had such fun with it taking pictures and movies and hate for it just to be dead on the shelf.
