Help with itunes syncing

Have an old Mac and can no longer use iTunes with my iPhone on it, as it's incapable of downloading newest iTunes version. I want to start using my husbands Mac to use iTunes (same account) but it says to sync it it will erase my stuff and put all the other on it? There are like 40,000 songs and hundreds of apps I don't want. Help?!

The easiest would be to set up your own iTunes account. Make sure he is logged out and you are logged in. Also, go to preferences and then devices and make sure it is checked to NOT sync automatically!
