help!!

My friend is visiting from england for a few months and in order to use her iphone 4 she has to unlock it. she's taken it to multiple places, all of which charged her for the "unlock" but it still won't take a sim card! does she need to take it to an apple store? we've been on a hunt for weeks now!

NEVER pay for unlock... firstly can you find out what firmware and baseband the iphone 4 has so then I can tell you if ultrasn0w wil work (it has to have baseband 01.59) tap on settings general and then about and next to modem firmware what does it say?
