How do I see what model i-phone I have?

My mum got I-phone off ebay, she don't like it (can't get used to buttons etc), how do I find which model it is? I don't know if its the iphone 1,2 3 or 4.
Can someone help me and direct me where I would find the model number on the phone please?

Ive just noticed in the SETTINGS tab, then the GENERAL tab then the ABOUT tab it says Version 4.2.1 - I'm sorry if this sounds a dumb question but does this mean its the Iphone 4 ?? It only says iphone 3G on the box it came in.

on the phone goto.. settings > general > about.. .......... then about half way down it will have a model number like "MD277LL" then goto the page below it has a list of all model numbers for each iPhone.

Thanks for your reply, I looked but can't see many model numbers on that page you linked too.
The model number on my Iphone is MB496B - Any ideas what model phone I have please?
