You can just call 3 and ask for an unlock. They usually charge about £15

Yes, but I don't stay in UK. I took it from my sister who came to India recently !

IMEI unlocks go for 5-10$ each for the 4. You can go on eBay for them. That's the best and cheapest way to unlock a 4 and it's permanent

P.S. Of course, if you have a contract with your locked carrier you can call them and ask for free unlock. I don't know about all carriers but such networks as Virgin and Bell offer unlock iPhone (locked to these networks) for 75 bucks. I know where to find cheaper

@Gerald54, there's no such thing as an "Express" or "Instant" guaranteed unlock. The whitelist is refreshed/regenerated on set schedules. The site you linked us to guarantees the unlock during those time periods. And quite frankly, for only $5-10 on eBay and a guarantee within 24 hours, you save quite a bit of money compared to your site.

I don't know nothing about their packages but what I do know that you really can find cheaper unlock on eBay but, the problem is that you never know if ebay offer is not a scam. If your friend used it yesetrday and today he came to you and offered the same service its ok but if you have not such a friend?

That's why you do research ahead of time. I frequent 3-4 sellers on eBay that guarantees that the iPhone is unlocked within 12 or 14 hours depending on iPhone and carrier. And, they'll unlock it free if it's not done within the promised time, and they only charge $15 tops
