IOS 9 Features.

Go to Settings>Messages>Show Subject Field and turn the switch on and off. This has worked for others with the same problem.

thank you both ,only starting having this issue after recent upgrade .

No need to reboot. Simply closing down messages and restarting is enough. It appears that it's either a bug, or an inadvertent press of the microphone key, which leaves the Messages app waiting for a voice message.

Split screen is a feature available to the iPad Air 2 and newer with the introduction of iOS 9. The iPhone can't use split screen. Keychain will work with iOS 9 on all iOS devices.
