iPhone 3G use as a modem

I have a iPhone 3G with a sim data (2GB/month) card from Belgacom in Belgium that I want to use as a modem to connect my computer to internet. I contacted my carrier whos says my contract includes the service I'm looking for. The problem is that when I go to Settings/General/Network I can't find the way to connect it to the computer.
What can I do to connect it?
Te iPhone is not unlocked, neither has it been jailbreaked.
The soft. version installed is 4.2.1(8C148), Modem Firmware 05.15.04

the iPhone 3g does not have that option

May be you are right, but how is it possible that I used it, about one year ago, with another differente sim card? I can asure you I did it!

Im not sure. The iPhone 4 was the 1st iPhone to be used as a modem/hotspot
